이후 쟝 슐럼버제와 함께 11년 간 티파니에서 일하면서 유쾌하고 재치 있는 디자인으로 유명해졌습니다.
도널드 클래플린은 특히나 이상한 나라의 앨리스 같은 어린이 동화 이야기들, 신화에 나오는 환상생물들, 동물 등의 모티브를 즐겨 사용했습니다.
특히 이 생쥐선원은 티파니에 입사하고 1년만에 내놓은 결과물입니다.
이 생쥐가 누구냐, 바로 "스튜어트 리틀"입니다.
티파니는 1969년에 미국에 탄자나이트를 소개하고 마케팅을 벌였는데,
덕분에 도널드 클래플린은 탄자나이트를 처음 사용한 디자이너들 중 하나가 되었습니다.
안타깝게도 티파니는 클래플린이 자기 디자인에 서명을 넣는 걸 허락하지 않았기 때문에,
디자인 스타일만으로 클래플린의 작품을 구별해야 합니다.
1977년, 디자인 경향성의 차이로 도널드 클래플린은 티파니에서 나와 불가리로 들어갔습니다.
1978년에는 드비어스 다이아몬드 인터내셔널 어워드(De Beers Diamonds International Awards)라고, 주얼리업계의 아카데미상이라고 할 수 있는 저명한 상의 심사원이 되어달라는 부탁을 받기도 했습니다.
안타깝게도 1978년, 44세의 나이로 때이른 죽음을 맞이하였습니다.
